We're going to be issuing a Webmaker Mentor badge (via BadgeKit) to those who participate in all four weeks of training.

The badge for this is, AFAIK, not designed yet. It needs to have a similar look/feel to the Super Mentor badge.

So attachment 8427001 [details] is where we'll design the criteria for the Mentor badge.

Worth noting that this stands in relation to Bug 995337 (staging: https://webmaker.mofostaging.net/en-US/badges/webmaker-super-mentor). In other words, the Mentor badge is a lower-bar version of the Super Mentor badge.

OK, after community review, here's the criteria:

Exploring
* You can define what 'making' means in a Webmaker context
* You reflect on your practice in relation to 'Connected Learning'
* You demonstrate working in the 'open'

Building
* You create plans and create resources that teach skills/competencies that are part of the Web Literacy Map
* You make your resources available under an open license as OERs
* You give and receive feedback within an online community
* You can use Webmaker tools to make resources for learning

Facilitating 
* You try out a teaching kit in a live settting 
* You comment and give effective feedback on other people's work
* You iterate a 'lesson' plan based on feedback received from peers
* You facilitate a learning experience

Connecting
* You can explain what is meant by a 'networked community'
* You co-design resources with other community members
* You participate, and invite others to participate, in the Webmaker community

So I started out with the Super Mentor one, but there's two problems there:

1. The Webmaker Training model doesn't necessarily map well onto it. We want to use Webmaker Training participation badges to breadcrumb towards Webmaker Mentor contribution badge.

2. The Super Mentor criteria aren't written in a way that allow for a spectrum of responses. In other words, if we make the Mentor badge a watered down version of the Super Mentor one, there's currently no way to indicate this.

What I've tried to do here is make the Mentor and Super Mentor qualitatively different. Happy to re-scope but we've already rushed the Super Mentor one out the door. :-/

In answer to Doug's suggestion, yes. Unless I'm mistaken, anyone can use Andrew's tool to design a badge for Webmaker in a mere seconds. See the attached gif as proof and a tutorial.

Yeah gotta r- that.  Matthew I think we'll need to come up with a custom icon for this, riffing on the torch from the super mentor badge, unless you can find one of the glyphs in the studio that isn't being used for one of the web literacies (for reference here they are: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Webmaker/Badges/Webliteracy)

I agree that we should have a visual link between the Mentor and Super Mentor badges. If the 'flame' metaphor is already taken, perhaps we should work on a different approach? Perhaps the following collection of icons from the Noun Project as inspiration?

Another option would be to change the 'Open Practices' icon for something different and go with:

Mentor = 1 candle/flame
Super Mentor = Many candles/flames

My simple f-it, ship it solution is: 

* Mentor badge: use the single flame currently set for Super Mentor
* Super Mentor: use 3 of the same flames

To clarify ... I have the style guide pdf, but I don't have the torch/flame icon. It'd be pretty quick to make a few variations for you to choose from (color, size, repetition) with that icon.

Alrighty. A step toward done: I followed Michelle's suggestion and did a few alternatives.

Personally, I vote for single torch for regular mentor. For super mentor, either:
 - 2 torches of different size
 - torch + stars
